Stalham Cabs

Our fares for journeys within the local area are metered at the rate set by our licensing authority, North Norfolk District Council.

The basic minimum charge is £3.00 which covers any journey up to 9/10 of a mile.  Beyond that distance, the meter advances in 10 pence steps at a rate equivalent to £1.65 per mile.

The table on the right shows the approximate one-way fares from central Stalham to some popular destinations.

If you ask us to wait before continuing a journey, the meter advances in 10 pence steps at a rate equivalent to 50 pence for each 2 minutes waiting time, after the first 2 minutes.  If you ask us to wait and then take you back to the place from which we picked you up, then we charge only half fare for the return journey.
Sutton Staithe 3.50

Ludham 9.30
Potter Heigham 10.30
Happisburgh 9.40
Hickling 6.70
Hoveton/Wroxham station 12.90
Norwich station 26.80

For journeys commencing between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. the above charges are increased by 50%.  Although the official tariff permits an increase of 25% in the base fares on a Sunday, we believe that this makes the fares unreasonably high, and we charge only the standard rate for all Sunday journeys commencing between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m.

We also apply the increase of 50% on the base fares for Christmas Day and New Year's Day, which is well below the officially permitted maximum of double the base fares.

We do not apply a separate charge per piece of luggage, nor do we charge the listed per-mile extra amount for additional passengers, except in the case of jobs requiring the minibus, for which we will normally provide a fixed quote.

If you know the distance of your journey, you can use the calculator on the left to get an estimate of the standard metered fare.  Enter the mileage, using a decimal point if necessary, and if you want us to wait and then take you back as described above, select the half-fare return option and enter the estimated waiting time.  You may also enter a waiting time if you need to break your journey part way, e.g. to stop for a few minutes to make a delivery.  Use the calculate button after making any changes to see the fare.

Please note that the figure given is only an estimate and the exact fare charged by the meter may be slightly different depending upon the precise distance, whether there are delays in traffic, and so on.

If you are unable to use the above calculator, or wish to view the fares for all distances within the local area, then please see our Fare chart, which sets out the standard metered fares for all such journeys.

For journeys in excess of about 25 miles, we will normally apply a fixed fare which is well below the metered rate, and we will be pleased to quote you for any destination within Great Britain.  You can request a quote via this website by going to our Bookings & quotes page.
